Just wanted to touch on something today, its a bit more of a personal post, but something I thought id share with yall.
Before I left to coach at the Arnold Classic in late Feb, I had completed less than a dozen training sessions in all of 2018. Wild right?
I couldnt find my motivation, I had some health issues, uni got busy, I travelled, blah blah blah. If a client came at me with these issues, I wouldve had along skype conversation about this very topic. But cognitive dissonance and all that, I just didnt have that conversation with myself.
Motivation is fleeting, its good for a day, a week, a fortnight tops. It drives us to our highest highs and can make us feel passion for something like never before. But motivation will not sustain you long term. Motivation is like a holiday fling, its damn fun while youre involved in it, but fuck does it burn out quick.
Discipline is what will bring you success in training, work and life. Having the self control and self respect to manage what you do in your daily life is the ultimate in maximising human potential. If you cant control what you put in your mouth, cant control your thoughts to exercise for 45 minutes, cant exercise will power to stop making excuses, how will you ever succeed?
Be disciplined, form habits, use motivation when its there but rely on discipline, it will always get you where you need to be.
So this is me, checking back in, refocusing and moving forward. If youre having similar struggles let me know, we can talk through it all and get you back on the road to success!
as always, any questions, give me a yell!
